Read an E-Book Week

Image

I stumbled on this interesting titbit of information from Smashwords. Apparently, it’s Inernational Read an E-Book Week. Neat! I didn’t even know there was such a thing.

My ebook is already quite inexpensive but for you, for this special occasion, I have decided to put it on sale for 50% off! No time like the present to grab a copy at Smashwords, or Kobo.

Please note that the sale does not extend to Amazon.com as they won’t let me sell my book for anything less than 2.99 USD. But fear not, Kindle users. Smashwords has the ebook available in the appropriate format for your e-reader. Thanks for stopping by, and have an awesome week!

Final Day of Five for February

Hey guys! Just a quick note to remind you that today is the last day of the Five for February sale. Tomorrow, the paperback version of Blood of Midnight: The Broken Prophecy, will go back up to regular price so if you want it and want to save five bucks, better grab it now!

Available at all major e-book retailers.

I’d also like to let you know that in March, I intend to post some short stories set within the Blood of Midnight world. These will be scene-unseen type affairs, that is to say, scenes that either did not make the final cut into the novel, or happened before or after Book I. (Book II begins two years later.) I’d like to offer these up as bonus material for all you nice folks who have taken the time to show interest in my work.

Here’s wishing you a productive new month!

Five for February Sale

Just a reminder that there is one more week left in the Five for February sale. If you want a paperback copy of Blood of Midnight: The Broken Prophecy, you’d better nab it now before it goes back to full price!

Get A Job

One of my favourite writers recently wrote a blog post on one (if not the) most irritating thing about being a full time author.

Check it out here: Get a Job

As for me, I’ve hit the halfway mark for blocking out the scenes of book 2 of Blood of Midnight. Busy busy!

Lastly, remember that there are only three weeks left to take advantage of:

At the end of February, it’s back to full price, so don’t miss it!

Sony Reader Store Closing

Hey guys, I just got this notice via Smashwords:

The Sony Reader Store is closing its digital doors. If you have one and you’re concerned about making sure you still have access to all the ebooks you bought through them, you might want to take a look at this article here to find out what you need to do.

Finally, Blood of Midnight: The Broken Prophecy is available via Amazon.com. This means great things for me as more people shop there than on Lulu (despite the fact that Lulu is  cheaper shhhh!). This makes me a very happy camper after all the struggle of figuring out publishing for the first time. Starting to see some revenue coming in and that feels wonderful after all I’ve invested in custom art, professional editor, graphic designer, etc.

Also, please do remember that the Five for February sale is indeed still on. Have a fabulous Friday, folks.

Busy busy …

Well, the bad news is, I got snowed in for the weekend.

The good news is, I had a big ol’ bottle of sake and the outlining of chapter 2 of Blood of Midnight: A Hollow Vengeance is well underway. Woo!

The best news, of course, is that, yes, you heard right, my novel is on sale for the entire month of February. Two more months of winter yeaaaaaah we can get through this!

Showing the Love – 20% Off

That’s right, the sale has begun! The paperback version of Blood of Midnight: The Broken Prophecy is now five dollars off for the entire month of February!

Maybe you have a sweetheart for Valentine’s Day. Maybe you don’t. But in the month of hearts and flowers, I know what you really want to curl up with. A good book.

And now you can, for less with Blood of Midnight: The Broken Prophecy.

A hero who’s not Superman.

A heroine who’s not someone else’s love-interest.

A villain whose idea of fashion is not black dragon scales and spikes, spikes, and more spikes.

A fresh face on fantasy. It’s Five for February.

Announcing the Five for February SALE!

That’s right. I’m axing the price of my paperback novel Blood of Midnight: The Broken Prophecy by five dollars for the entire month of February to show my readers some love. Because, when you love someone, you give them books.

Don’t say I never got you anything for Valentine’s Day.

So stop by tomorrow for swords, sorcery, and sex. … Wait what? Oh, yeah. Please don’t buy it for your kids. I don’t pull my punches.

Great News!

Okay, so the issue with the table of contents was resolved. If you’re making an ebook, and struggling with this, this might be of interest to you.

Apparently, sometimes when the book is converted from one format to another, or even simply opened in another program, hidden bookmarks are created that mess up the functionality of the book when it’s converted to an .epub format. Thankfully, this is easy to fix if you know how.

You go to Insert, then Bookmarks, and in the field where your bookmarks appear you’ll see the little buggers that snuck in there. You’ll know them because they start with an underscore: _like this. And you definitely didn’t put them there. Delete them. Make sure the document is saved. Close it and send it off.

I mean it.

Close it. Don’t open it again to check on it. And send it off.

Why? Because if you open it again, at least if you’re using Open Office like I do, the program will re-create those hidden bookmarks and you’ll have to do this again.

Now that that’s solved, let’s see what manner of mischief I can get up to today.
