So! What have I been up to lately? Working hard. As you can see, Jahoel has been completed and is on its way to Norway. This is the first blade to be made from start to finish in the new Adamant Studio in Finland. I’m rather pleased with it. I think I’ve managed to hit a good balance between transparency and opacity so that they are both true to the description in the books, and photograph well.
What’s next? Well, I have ordered leather to begin crafting the new TV series style blades for those who desire them.
Also, my original show blades arrived from Canada! Remember these?
Ugh. In comparison with Jahoel up there, they actually look pretty slapdash. When I made these four, I was in the process of inventing the technique with unfamiliar tools. I had to try many things. Some didn’t work. And I was very pressed for time. So …
Ohhhhh yeaaaaah! It’s time for a make-over! This is one of the show-blades stripped down and re-finished on the belt sander. No more lumps, no more scratches, no more thumb-thick blade edge. It’s just as svelte as the new blades and I cannot wait to polish it up to a perfect finish. I’ve also decided to name this design Gabriel after the blade that Jace uses to … bahaha! No spoilers for you!
The short sword beside it is… yep! You guessed it. Another Jahoel for a ‘hunter who really liked the first one I made and requested a replica. Not a problem! I like this design. Simple and elegant.
If you’d like a Seraph Blade of your own, feel free to check out my FAQ here, and send me an email at ethankincaid (at) gmail (dot) com.
Coming soon will be a price list for easy ordering, and updated FAQ, and a new How to Make a Seraph Blade tutorial to reflect all I’ve learned since the first blades I made.
Stay tuned, and as always, happy hunting!
It’s always a sign of growing skill when your old work suddenly looks like crap. Nice work, they look wonderful! I’m excited to see you’re expanding into leather working. Some truly stunning designs lay in your future, and I can’t wait to see them. 🙂
